Ayurvedic Clinical Diagnosis Workshop with Alex Duncan Cost : 594 € * Dates : Sat 5 (18h) – Friday 11 (14h) July 2008 (optional departure Saturday 12th, by 10 am**) Note this event takes place at the same time as the Yoga, Rest & Relaxation week. Language : English This 6 day workshop has been designed for recently trained Ayurvedic practitioners (see prerequisites below) who wish to deepen their experience and confidence in general clinical practice. While the focus of the event is on perfecting diagnostic skills, we will also cover treatment protocol and work towards simple lifestyle, dietary and herbal treatments for our patients. When appropriate, additional treatments will be covered such as Ayurvedic massage, yoga practices etc. During the event you will work with 3 guest patients, giving you time to revise and improve your diagnostic skills as well as discuss your findings and design simple treatment regimes. There will also be ample time to rest and relax and discover the beautiful rural surroundings of Gardoussel. Itinerary
Prerequisites In order to attend this event, you must have a basic practical training in Ayurveda. You should be familiar with the traditional Ayurvedic diagnostic protocol which includes diagnosis of body frame, face, eyes, tongue, pulse, hands and nails, as well as investigation into the internal states of digestion and elimination and the function of the doshas in general. If you have trained with the following schools, you will normally have encountered the diagnostic protocol that I teach (or one closely related): The European Institute of Vedic Studies (France, UK, Switzerland), The Academy of Ayurvedic Studies (The Netherlands), The American Institute of Vedic Studies (USA, Dr. Frawley), The Ayurvedic Institute (USA, Vasant Lad). Correspondence students will be accepted but must be prepared to work a little harder initially and consider the week as an opportunity to experience the nuances of diagnosis for the first time as taught by a professor. Please bring your training notes and reference books with you for the self-study exercises. All applications must include a letter of motivation that includes a short resume of their experience and Ayurvedic education. * Price options Depending on your choice of room, the price for the event will vary. Including the workshop cost of 300 €, the full price options with accommodation and food are:
Price in EUROS per person per day for all classes (30 hours of contact with teacher, 8 hours self-study, during the week). Price includes all meals and accommodation. Bedding provided, bring your own bath towel. Alex Duncan Alex has been practicing Yoga regularly for over 15 years studying with many well known international teachers.
